Statue « Islandic Widows»

The statue is located in the center of a high plateau with an unobstructed view of the sea which offers a very beautiful panorama of the Bréhat island

We can read on his sign:

« The statue “Islandic Widows” is the work of Francis Renaud (Saint-Brieuc, 1887-1973). The original plaster group was exhibited at the 1932 Salon des Artistes Français and awarded with a gold medal »

« This statue, inaugurated on July 15, 201, was sculpted by Charly Sallé in a 12-ton block extracted from a granite quarry in Saint-Samson de Pleumeur-Bodou. The Ploumanac'h granite base was made by Josef Bechet, then a stonemason student and regional gold medalist in the competition for the best apprentice in France.. »

« … she had gone back to wait for him…

He never came back»
